Venetian Blind Card

With this technique, I love the way the effect of looking through a window blind gives the illusion of depth and dimension.  This is an easy, but effective process that is sometime referred to as Paper Lantern.

Supplies:

 Stamp Sets:
 ·        Light the Path  (TAC)

Inks:
·        Gray Dye Ink
·        StazOn Jet black or Noir Palette Ink Pad (Stewart Superior~TAC)

Paper:
·        White cardstock 2 ½” x 4”
·        Pale Gray cardstock 3 ¼” x 4 ½”
·        Sparkle Tan cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½” (TAC)
·        A2 size note card (4 ½” x 5 ½” when folded)

Other:
·        Paper Crimper
·        Adhesive of choice (double stick tape, glue stick)
·        Glue dot for charm
·        Charm of choice (“Peace” was used in this project)
·        Colored Pencils (Prismacolor)
·        Blender pencil (Prismacolor)

Instructions:

1. Stamp the lighthouse onto the white cardstock.
2. Render color with colored pencils. Add color to the sun and sky areas as well as adding a yellow cast where the light should fall.  Blend colors with the blender pencil.
3. Outline the lighthouse with blue for added dimension.
4. Run lighthouse through the paper crimper so that the crimps are horizontal.
5. Gently rub the gray dye ink pad over the raised crimps.
6. Adhere sparkle cardstock to note card. Layer gray cardstock and then lighthouse image over the top using double stick tape.
7. Attach charm to upper left corner of the crimped layer with a glue dot (or any glue…just allow drying time.)
8. Sign your art and enjoy!
