“Binding” Friendship Pin –Rollabind® Disc Project

Supplies

•    Dot Sampler Stamp Set (TAC)
        Small Mouse
•    India Black Dye Ink Pad (TAC)
•    1 Scrap of white cardstock
•    Markers (Tombow)
        Pink
        Blue
        Gray
•    1¾" disc any color (Rollabaind®, TAC)
•    ½" circle punch (McGill)
•    Tie Tack pin back (JoAnn's Etc.)
•    Mini Glue Dots® (Glue Dots International LLC)
•    3D Crystal Lacquer (Sakura Hobby Craft, TAC)
•    Automotive Goop® Glue (Eclectic Products Inc., Hardware/Automotive Store)

Instructions:

1.    Stamp the mouse image onto the scrap cardstock with the permanent black ink.

2.    Center your image in the underside opening of the circle punch and punch out your image. 

3.    Color your image with the marker colors you have selected.

4.    Attach your card stock circle to the disc using one of the glue dots.  This helps your image stay in place and not float to the top when adding the lacquer.

5.    Place your disc on a flat surface that can remain undisturbed for a couple of days.  Fill the opening with 3D Crystal Lacquer until it has a bubble like surface.  Don’t overfill as it will run off and stick your disc to the surface it is on.

6.    If bubbles form inside your lacquer, use a straight pin to pop them or lift them out.  They will not disappear during the drying process.

7.    Set aside for 72 hours to dry completely.

8.    Finish up your pin by attaching the tie tack finding to the back of your disc.  You will need heavy-duty glue.  (Goop® works great.  If it will hold a rear view mirror to a glass window, think of how it will work on your craft projects.)

9.    Let dry approximately 2-3 hours.

Suggestion:

Use the metallic discs to make tie tacks for little boys, or a more elegant pin.
