Embossing Resist – Congrats Grad

• 1 - Red Tassel (Darice)

• 1/16" circle punch (Fiskars)
• Pop Dots (*homemade)
• Heat Gun (Milwaukee - TAC)
• Monoadhesive (Tombow)
• Sponge Wedge (TAC)
• Black Brad (TAC)
• Permanent Black Marker (Sharpie)
• Paper Towel

Instructions:

1.    Fold 6 ¼” x 9” black glossy cardstock in half to create an A6 size card.

2.    Using the Versamark pad as embossing ink, stamp the graduation cap onto the small piece of white glossy card stock.

3.    Cover with clear embossing powder.  Dump excess into the tidy tray. Heat set the embossed images with the heat gun.

4.    Sponge red dye ink over the image, rubbing it in for complete coverage.

5.    Cut out the image, leaving a small border all the way around.

6.    Place the cap onto the small piece of black card stock to get an approximation of where to stamp the words.  Stamp the words with the Versamark inkpad.

7.    Cover with white embossing powder, dumping excess back into the container and heat set.

8.    Next stamp the large piece of white glossy with the Versamark inkpad and the block stamp.  Start with the top corners, then the bottom corners, and end with the center blocks.  This will help you to estimate the placement.  Lastly, stamp the middle two blocks in between the side blocks.

9.    Repeat step 3. Return embossing powder back into original container.

10.           Using the direct to paper technique (taking your inkpad directly to the surface of your paper), rub gray into the now embossed block sheet.  Rub with paper towel to remove any excess ink left on the embossed sections.

11.           Punch a hole in the upper left block of your gray layer.

12.           Put the stem of the brad through the tassel loop cord and then through the hole of your gray layer and spread open the tines.

13.           Adhere to the black glossy A6 card with monoadhesive, leaving a larger space at the bottom.

14.           Add the mounting corners to the small black glossy embossed piece and adhere to the two previous layers, slightly over lapping the bottom of the gray layer.

15.           Color the button of the red cap with a black permanent marker.

16.           Add pop dots* to the back of the cap and then layer onto the small black piece.

*How to make your own pop dots:

Cut up fun foam, mounting foam or left over stamp foam to the size you need to mount your project.  Adhere with monoadhesive, glue dots or your favorite glue. Fun foam comes in many thicknesses and colors.  Use the color that best fits your project.
