Reflective Vellum Technique

Vellum is one of my favorite papers to use. It has a visual softness, can be aged, and makes a wonderful title bar for a scrapbook page. You can fasten it with brads or eyelets, and 3M developed a tape specifically for adhering vellum to other surfaces as well!   Vellum is usually a little more expensive than cardstock and is often sold by the sheet.  However, you can get at least 4 cards out of 1 sheet of vellum, so, in the immortal words of Nike (sort of!), JUST BUY IT!  You won't regret it!

Reflective Vellum is a pretty simple, but very elegant technique. The bottom card was my husband's Father's Day card and is a little more detailed than the one I'm going to teach you how to make, which is the bathing lady. 
 

Supplies:

•  Rub a Dub Dub stamp set (TAC)
•  Trading Spaces stamp set (The Stamping Studio)
•  Palette Hybrid inks pad: Noir Black, Sun Flower, & Iris (Stewart Superior)
•  Card Stock, cut as follows:
        Mustard - 5 1/2" x 11" and 4 1/4" x 1 1/2"
        Violet - 5 1/4" x 5 1/4" and 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"
        White - 1 3/8" x 4 1/8"
        Vellum - 5" x 5"
•  Prismacolor pencils & Colorless Blender pencil- lavender, yellow, peach, white, & gold metallic as shown (Sanford)
•  Transcendence embossing powder for dye ink
•  Heat Tool (Marvy Uchida)
•  Lasting Impressions matte finish brads- purple (The Stamping Studio)
•  Violet organdy ribbon (TAC)
•  Mono Adhesive or other preferred adhesive
•  1/16" circle hole punch (Fiskars)
•  Anywhere Hole Punch set (Making Memories)
•  Eyelet Hammer (Making Memories) 

Instructions:

1. Stamp & emboss bathing lady from Rub a Dub Dub.  Make a mask with a post -it note.  Mask the bathing lady image and then stamp and emboss rug from Trading Spaces set. 

2.  Flip over vellum and stamp bathing lady again, so that the tub is just over the edge of the rug. Do not emboss.  

3. Color both images on the side you stamped them, as shown in the picture.  Color the rug on the front side of the vellum. 

4. Stamp "Rub a Dub Dub" greeting 3 times on the small piece of white card stock with Sun Flower ink.  Overstamp the greeting "Delight" with Iris ink at center of card. 

5.  Adhere greeting to small, torn-edge violet card stock piece, then layer that onto small mustard card stock piece at right side of card. 

6. Layer vellum evenly on center of violet card stock; punch 1/16" holes in all four corners.  Insert & set matte finish purple brads.  

7. Punch 1/8" hole to left side of images and insert ribbon. Tie bow to finish card!
