Assemblage - Evil Clown Refrigerator Magnet

At the age of 3, I began having nightmares about a clown
that came out of a toy perfume bottle. In my nightmare, I would be playing
with my favorite toy - this small plastic perfume bottle with a tiny fragrant
doll inside - and the clown would pop right out at me. He'd then grow to a
giant, bigger than the house. Every night, the clown would catch me and
hold me high overhead as he lowered me into his painted red maw. Every
night, I would wake up terrified. I learned how to go back into my dreams
to change things a little. By the age of 4, I was kicking the evil clown,
making him drop me so I could run away. I still woke up terrified.
As time went by, I lost that perfume bottle, but the nightmare still came to me
every night - I could even smell the fragrance of my precious little doll!
By my late twenties, I had figured out who the clown represented and my
nightmare all but stopped.
Now, I am the giant and the evil clown is in my
grasp forever.

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Measure the Thread
cone 3⅜” down from top, draw a line around the cone. Use your craft knife and
cut along that line. Now, cut the cone in half. If it is too curved to fit the
mask nicely, unroll or open it gently – it will maintain the shape without
looking mangled.
2. Apply 3 coats of the
Orange Lumiere to the piece of cone you’ve retained for your clown’s hat. Set
aside to dry.
3. Cut desired letters
out of the collage sheet and, using one little droplet of glue in the center of
the back of each letter, glue to a tiny square mirror. Set aside to dry.
4. Using Winter Rust
ink, stamp collage image randomly over black mat board.
5. Using Golden Mist
ink, stamp Evidence image a few times over the collage images. Set aside to
dry.
6. Using the sharpie
markers, draw desired clown face on the clay mask.
7. Put a few of the
pieces of tumbled glass into the zipper bag, set the bag on a hard, flat surface
(like a garage floor with a firm door mat) and tap the glass pieces lightly with
the hammer. Don’t make the bits too small.
8. CAREFULLY Glue the
glass bits to the orange cone as desired. Set aside to dry.
9. Using the black
Sharpie marker, black out the white edges of the mat board.
10. Glue the book corners
to the corners of the mat board. Let dry.
11. Glue two of the tiny
round mirrors together – stacked on top of each other. Let dry.
12. Twist the magnet off
the back of the mask with your needle nose plier.
13. Place the mask on the
mat board, place the hat/cone on the head to get an idea of placement on the
board. Glue the mask down.
14. Glue Trim to the edge
of the hat/cone as desired.
15. Apply a drop of glue
to inner curve of hat/cone where it meets the mask when placed as well as to cut
edges of hat/cone and apply to mask/mat board as shown.
16. Glue stacked mirrors
to board at tip of hat as shown.
17. Glue crystal to top
of mirrors.
18. Glue tiny square
mirrors with letters (created in step 3) to board as shown.
19. Allow to dry.
20. Peel backing off the
two business card sized magnets and place them on the back of the board as
desired.
