Designing with Patterned Paper and Computerized Fonts

This idea is very popular with new stampers coming over to card making from a scrapbook background and with new stampers that don’t have many sayings yet. It works well for cards and tags, too!

Supplies
Queenie Stamp Set (TAC, The Angel Company)  
Divas Stamp Set (TAC, The Angel company)
Black Beauty Ink Pad (TAC, The Angel Company)
Patterned Paper; cut to size: 4¼” x 5½” (Die Cuts with a View, ‘the paper stack’)
White cardstock
Coordinating colored cardstock scraps to match patterned paper (black for   Queenie; orange for Diva)
White or colored cardstock; cut to size: 5½” x 8½ “to make a folded card
Candy Apple Red Faerie Mysts
Silver Gel Pen (for the hanger)
Coloring Pencils (Prismacolor)
Easy Stick Double Stick Adhesive Runner (Henkel/Duck)
Paper Trimmer (Fiskars)
Bone Folder
Water Receptacle
Paintbrush
Paper towel
Sailor Glue Pen
Prisma Glitter (clear)

Instructions

1.   Ink up images using Black Beauty and stamp images onto the white card stock.  Trim to size 1 7/8” x 1½” for Queenie and 7/8” x 2 3/8” for Diva.

2.   Render color in colored pencils or Faerie Mysts.  After painting with Faerie Mysts allow image to dry.  Apply the silver gel pen and carefully trace along the hanger to give it a metal effect.  Apply Sailor Glue to straps and buttons on the gown and sprinkle on Prisma Glitter.  When completely dry, dry brush excess glitter off. Trim designs to preferred size.

3.   Choose saying and font.  The font for Queenie is Ma Sexy bold size 16 printed out in black, one of my favorites.  The Font for Diva is Bubble Man size18 printed out in Orange. Insert one full sheet of white cardstock into printer and print. Word 2000 is used for this process, but Word Pad and Notebook work equally well.  Type in the first saying selection, hit enter a couple of times, and type in the next saying. Then, I play with the arrangement until it is lined up and has the look I am wanting.  Print and trim to size: 1 7/8” x 1 ½” for the Queenie card and 7/8” x 2 3/8” for the Diva card).

4.   Layer image and font onto coordinating colored cardstock with Easy Stick.

5.   Decide on placement of image and saying, attach to patterned paper with Easy Stick.

6.   Moving the rotary blade out of the way, score the half sheet of cardstock (colored or white) using a stylus tool and Fiskars trimmer at 4 ¼”.

7.   Fold the half sheet of colored or white cardstock in half using a bone folder for a nice clean fold.

8.   Run Easy Stick along the back of your ‘card front’ and attach to card.

9.   A Simply Elegant card is completed!
