Supplies:

•Sunflower Botanical stamp (TAC, The Angel Company)
•Coffee Bean Brilliance Ink (Tsukineko)
•Blank Journal (my source for these is a friend in Japan who visits the ‘Yen store’ – apparently these are similar to our dollar stores here in the US)
•Mini Scrabble Pieces
•Brass leaf embellishment
•Coffee Bean Brilliance Ink (Tsukineko)
•Stonehenge 120 lb paper (Dick Blick)
•Colored Pencils in the following colors: Sunburst Yellow, Canary Yellow, Goldenrod, Sienna Brown, Terra Cotta, Burnt Ochre (Prismacolor)
•Brass or gold colored rub-ons or stickers (Hearts In Touch)
•Xyron 510 loaded with permanent adhesive (Xyron)
•Woman image is a playing card (unknown)
•Dymo Label maker loaded with black (Office Max)
•Heat gun (Milwaukee)
•Scissor or Craft Knife
•Walnut ink – diluted in a spray bottle
•Odorless Thinner (Grumbacher)
•Blending stumps (Loew Cornell)
•The Ultimate Craft Glue (API – Crafter’s Pick)
•Bone folder, pencil or stylus

This was a little ‘pick me up’ for a friend who was hospitalized.  It was a very quick project as well!

Instructions:

1. Spritz the front of the journal with Walnut Ink and set aside to dry.
2. Stamp Sunflower on the Stonehenge paper with the Brilliance Ink.  Use your heat gun to dry and set the ink.
3. Color the flower with colored pencils.  Layer colors and shade as desired.
4. Dip a blending stump into the thinner and go over the areas you’ve colored with the pencils to blend the colors together.  I love the way pencil work looks with this technique – the colors become so vibrant!
5. Cut flower head only out.
6. Do a mock-up of the layout on the cover of the journal.
7. Run flower head and playing card through Xyron.  Trace around each with a pencil or stylus.  Remove plastic sheet from top of playing card and flower head. 
8. Apply to journal as desired. 
9. Using The Ultimate, apply scrabble pieces and embellishment as desired. 
10. Apply rub-ons or stickers as shown – I colored one of the stickers in with my pencils.
11. Use the Dymo Label maker to make the word ‘Journal’ and apply to the journal as shown.
12. Let the journal dry at least overnight.
